Lodging Association’s Annual Hurricane Conference

The Lodging Association has once again teamed up with the Monroe County Tourist Development Council to present the 2016 Hurricane Preparedness Workshop for the Tourism Industry.

The conference is geared toward those in the tourism industry and business community but anyone interested in storm preparedness is welcome.

Dr. Rick Knabb, Director of the National Hurricane Center will be presenting “What’s New in 2016 and What’s Coming in 2017.” It will focus on the new operational and experimental tropical cyclone offerings this season, especially related to storm surge, and what the National Hurricane Center is working on for 2017.

Bryan Koon, Director of Emergency Management, State of Florida will be presenting “How the State Interfaces with Monroe County”

Martin Senterfitt, Director of Monroe County Emergency Management will be presenting “Introduction and Remarks from the newly hired director.”

Andy Newman, Director of Public Relations for Monroe County Tourist Development Council will be presenting “TDC Hurricane Program and Communications”.

Matt Moreland, Meteorologist-in-Charge, Key West National Weather Service Office.

There will also be an expert media panel to discuss “Hurricane Preparedness” focus on the readiness of the private sector and government leaders following 10 years of Florida and the Keys not experiencing a hurricane.

Admission is $10 per person and reservations are required.
