Letter to the Editor / Re: Louis Petrone Commentary

By Jabe Luttrell
I agree that an independent can be elected President of the USA.  Louis’s rationale however I have to take issue with.  He states that the motivation of the electorate to vote for Trump is a mistake.  I can surmise why he thinks it is a mistake and he later in his commentary attempts to justify his statement an my issue with it. I opine that the Trump election was a rational corrective action to the Hope and Change failures of the prior administration.
Louis cites that George Washington was elected without a political party.  Even then there were distinct widely different points of view that could be compared to the disparate views of political parties today.  Many wanted George to be crowned King.  Others President for life. He wisely chose 2 terms as a limit and set the precedent for peaceful transition of power.  Today the Democrat Party seeks to unseat a duly elected President contrary to law.  The Republican Party seeks to abide by the US Constitution.
I agree with Louis that many in the population are pissed off today.  I would say that folks of both persuasions are equally pissed off for completely different reasons.  Democrats and liberals are pissed because they want the federal government to solve all their problems.  Democrat elites as opposed to the liberal population, however are motivated to regain power by any means lawful or otherwise, yet they have no agenda other than power and control or perhaps corruption.  They do not abide by the Constitution unless it suits them.  Two tier legal system is fine when they are the recipient of its largess.  Corruption, abuse of women, funds for baby killing, initiatives to oppress black citizens, illegal immigration receiving voter IDs, environmental laws that enrich them, money laundering for their campaigns, blaming guns for school shooting when the real reason is the stupid Promise program of the Obama administration, and blatant lying are all good in the Democrat play book.  The Republicans try to govern by the law and the Democrats hate it and the Republicans in office.
Louis cites Joe Scarborough and Mike Bloomberg as potential “Independent” candidates.  Both are as far from independent as they can be.  Just listening to Joe makes one wonder where he got so much hate.  Mike is a liberal Democrat who foisted his own big government “morality” on NYC. Only DeBlasio could be further left then he.
The groups that Louis says will make the difference in the future may indeed be so, but hardly to make our society better.  The anti-gun groups are trying to close the barn door after the horse has left.  The only solution they offer is total confiscation of all guns.  Then we will have a society where, like London England, the murders are committed with knives and knives will be confiscated.  Mass killings are not limited to guns.  They also occur with knives, as have happened in China, Japan, and England.  Furthermore, guns are legal in the US by virtue of the US Constitution.
The Women’s March was for what purpose?  Pussy hats?  Free abortions? Bombing the White House?  Angry, nasty women?  Women’s empowerment?  Democrats and liberal are pissed because their entitled, glass ceiling shattering, corrupt, woman denigrating, Bill Ayers loving candidate didn’t win the Presidency.  I see it as a march organized by Trump haters, for no other purpose than hating him.
Black Lives Matter?  What possibly can be their agenda?   Grown from a lie to an international movement of hate for white people, it fosters racism while it purports to overcome racism.  I happen to believe that there is but one race, the human race.  Dividing the human race into groups and tribes does nothing to engender peace and cooperation.  Black Lives Matter does not appear to want these things just the elimination of law and order and perhaps reparations for something that they never experienced.
So, back to Louis, yes I agree that political parties have come and gone and that our parties today may not be the parties of tomorrow, however, what party is successful I submit should have an agenda that does not divide the nation by identity politics but that establishes policies that strengthen the unity of the states and fosters the security of the nation.  After all the job of the Federal government is not to solve all peoples’ problems, but to ensure our liberty, freedom, and security from all enemies foreign and domestic.
Change? Be careful what you wish for.  Big time? Only as allowed by the Constitution. On its way? Please, legally and peacefully.
