LETTER TO THE EDITOR / INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS: RUSSIA,  CHINA, INDIA & ISRAEL

By Roger C. Kostmayer

The world is changing and it’s not yet clear whether it will benefit pro-peace democracies or pro-military power dictatorships like Hitler, Mussolini, North Korea, China and Putin’s Russia.

China’s aspiration is to be the major world power in the 21st century – based on their military, economy and population.  But the surest way to fail in pursuit of that national objective is for China to continue to support Putin and Russia, the world’s most dangerous pariah country.  So far, China has backed Putin and falsely claimed that Russia “had no choice.” The US, all of Europe and NATO must make China (and all other countries) pay the highest price for violating sanctions on Russia or providing military and economic support to Putin.

India is the largest democracy in the world, yet they have failed to condemn Putin and Russia for either the unprovoked military invasion of a sovereign nation, or for Putin’s well documented crimes against humanity. India must be held accountable unless they stand with democracy and international law.

It is painful to criticize a close and important ally, or one’s own country, but at times it is necessary.  The unanswered question to Israel’s government is: What happened to “never again” and morality when you fail to condemn genocide by Putin?  The rumor is that some of Putin’s billionaire oligarch buddies, who are Jewish, have made substantial contributions to Israel and/or Israeli politicians.  Pro-Israel Americans, and tax payers who contribute more to Israel than all other countries combined, deserve an explanation.

Only support for Ukraine and unequivocal condemnation of Putin and genocide are acceptable positions at this critical moment in history – because “Never Again” has meaning.
