Law enforcement presence at Coral Shores High School

There was a larger-than-normal law enforcement presence at Coral Shores High School Tuesday morning following threatening statements made by a student who has been identified and interviewed.

The Sheriff’s Office concluded there was no active threat after working with the Monroe County School District, the Office of the State Attorney, and our partners with the Miami-Dade Police Department.

“The safety of our children is my number one priority,” said Sheriff Rick Ramsay. “I want to thank school officials, the State Attorney’s Office, and the Miami-Dade Police Department for their help in ensuring that priority is met.”

The criminal investigation is ongoing as the Sheriff’s Office is working with prosecutors and the student’s parents who have been cooperative.
