Large amount of drugs found following traffic stop

A Key West man and Marathon woman were arrested Thursday night following a traffic stop that netted a large amount of fentanyl and amphetamines.

Katherine Ann Supp, 33, of Key West and Justin John Langeland, 37, of Marathon, both face multiple drug-related charges.

Deputy Paul McNalley stopped a Dodge truck near Mile Maker 31 at approximately 8:48 p.m. for not having a properly functioning tag light. Supp and Langeland were inside the truck as well as a third adult from Homestead who was not charged.

Supp began reaching for something at her feet. Langeland was also moving suspiciously. All three were searched and an aluminium foil pipe with a residue that tested positive for fentanyl was found in Supp’s possession.

A U.S. Border Patrol K9 arrived on scene and alerted to drugs inside the truck.

Nearly three ounces of amphetamines, a half-ounce of fentanyl, a digital scale and multiple pipes and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle.

Supp and Langeland were taken to jail.
