Knots or NOT

Tired of tying up your boat and then taking 5 minutes to untie it? Or do you come back to your “secured” boat only to see it drifting off shore? Well here is our answer. The Key West US Power Squadron Knots, Bends, and Hitches seminar is a hands-on “learn how to tie knots” program geared to a wide range of audiences.  In less than 2 hours, practical skills of knots, rope selection, size and parts of line and other marlinspike seamanship skills will be taught. Participants will learn how to tie a set of the most useful knots, like the bowline, square knot, cleave hitch and clove hitch. A knot board and two lengths of line will be provided for you to practice during the presentation. To pursue your knot skills further, the USPS Guide Knots, Bends and Hitches for Mariners, can be ordered on-line.

The seminar is free and is held at the Key West Sail and Power Squadron building on 5205 College Road on Stock Island, Saturday, January 21 at 10:00 am.
