Kids Plant New Trees

The May Sands Montessori Charter School was at City Hall this week, planting three new young trees behind the butterfly garden. The trees will replace a large ficus that was lost to Hurricane Irma.

The students have formed the Blue Green Club, led by teacher Gabriela Guerrero. They planted the trees with the help of CR Landscaping Architect and Montessori Board Member Craig Reynolds. Key West Urban Forester Karen DeMaria oversaw the planting and consulted with the kids on the best species and location for the new trees.
