Keys History & Discovery Center Presents…Lecture Explores South Florida’s Early Naturalists

ISLAMORADA, FL – Keys History & Discovery Center Presents…lecture series continues Wednesday, Dec. 8, with Seeking the American Tropics: South Florida’s Early Naturalists by Dr. James Kushlan, author and ornithologist. Guests can attend in person or participate virtually. Advanced registration is required.

Through the lecture, hear the tales of those who attempted to venture into South Florida to discover the character of its nature from the Spanish era through the mid-1920s, by which time its natural environment had been compromised beyond recognition.

Registration for virtual participants can be made up to one hour before the start of the lecture. In-person registration closes on Tuesday, Dec. 7, to ensure adequate seating and appetizers. Doors to the Discovery Center open at 5:30 p.m., with the presentation beginning at 6 p.m. Cash bar and light appetizers available prior to presentation. Lectures are free for members. For non-members, cost for in-person is $10 and virtual participation is $5.
