Key West man charged with felon in possession of a weapon

A Key West man was arrested Wednesday, charged with a warrant for being a convicted felon in possession of an electrical weapon or device.

During the course of a possible theft investigation, lower Keys detectives discovered Bellamy had pawned a number of items in August of 2023 including a tablet computer, a fishing rod, a knife, a speaker and a stun gun. Detectives knew he was a convicted felon so they obtained a warrant for his arrest on the above charge.

60 year old Bellamy has a number of felony convictions including a 1985 charge in North Carolina of “indecent liberties with a child” and a conviction in 2015 for failing to register as a sex offender. He was also arrested in the Keys on February 7, 2024 for failing to register as a sex offender.

Bellamy was booked into the Monroe County Detention Center. Bond on the warrant was set at $100,000.
