Key West International Airport Expansion Debuts
By KONK Life Staff Writer
KEY WEST, FL  – A new era of air travel has dawned in the Florida Keys with the opening of Concourse A at Key West International Airport (EYW) on April 14, 2025. This $118 million expansion introduces a sleek, modern facility designed to enhance the passenger experience and accommodate the region’s growing tourism demands.

Spanning 48,802 square feet, Concourse A features eight air-conditioned jet bridges—the first in the Keys—providing shelter from the elements and direct boarding access to aircraft. The concourse’s design includes a 446-panel electrochromic glass curtain wall that adjusts tint based on sunlight, reducing glare and conserving energy. Additionally, the glass incorporates bird-safe glazing to protect local wildlife.

Travelers can now enjoy expanded dining options, including a Chili’s restaurant, Southern Point Bar, Farm 2 Air Market, and the First Call Beach Bar at baggage claim. The terminal also boasts an expanded security checkpoint with four lanes, new baggage claim areas, and additional airline ramp and office spaces.

The inaugural flight from the new concourse was Delta Air Lines Flight 1072 to Atlanta, marking the beginning of a new chapter for EYW. Despite minor technical issues, such as inoperative PA systems and Wi-Fi glitches, passengers and staff alike were enthusiastic about the opening.

Monroe County officials anticipate that the full scope of the airport’s enhancements will be completed by summer 2026, further solidifying Key West International Airport’s status as a modern gateway to the region.
