Key West Garden Club will hold educational meeting on March 2, 2017

The Key West Garden Club will hold its next monthly educational meeting on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 1:30 pm.  The meeting will be held in the Pavilion at the Fort West Martello on Atlantic Blvd.  Shelly Krueger will present, “Sponges: Past, Present and Future”.

Shelly is the Florida Sea Grant Agent in Monroe County for the University of Florida IFAS Extension.  Shelly is responsible for providing a comprehensive marine science Extension program for the people of Monroe County to promote and sustain economic, social, and environmental resources and support the co-management of marine resources.  Shelly developed Florida Keys Water Watch, a volunteer water quality monitoring program to train citizens how to collect water quality data and she is the education and outreach lead for local sponge restoration projects.  Shelly is also an instructor for the University of Florida IFAS Florida Master Naturalist program.
