Key West Artisan Market Showcases Local Talent and Community Initiatives on January 12

Key West, FL — The Key West Artisan Market invites residents and visitors to celebrate local talent and explore impactful community initiatives at the “Don’t Be Trashy” edition, taking place on Sunday, January 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Indigenous Park located at Higgs Beach. This special event highlights the efforts of Plogging the Keys and the Keep Key West Beautiful initiative, two organizations committed to preserving the natural beauty of the Florida Keys.

In 2024, Plogging the Keys achieved impressive results by collecting over 9,242 pounds of trash, 1,097 pounds of recyclables, and 171 gallons of cigarette butts from the island’s streets, beaches, and parks. The group meets every Friday at a different location from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and invites both residents and visitors to participate. A full schedule is on their social media pages, the city of Key West website, or their booth at the market. All city and county parks in the area are now smoke-free.

The Key West Artisan Market offers a wide array of temptations. Guests can enjoy beverages, including bloody marys, mimosas, coffee, smoothies, and natural juices, from the full bar and beverage stations. Food enthusiasts can sample offerings from multiple food trucks and stalls, featuring delicious options for on-site dining or take-away meals. The outdoor market showcases fine crafts, art, and jewelry by talented Florida Keys artisans, along with fresh produce, artisan cheeses, local seafood, honey, pickles, and pantry staples.

Live music performances by local duos The Shanty Hounds and B-Man & mi-Shell will provide entertainment throughout the day. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet local authors and learn about The Key West Wildlife Center. The market’s location, near iconic attractions such as the Higgs Beach Dog Park, the West Martello Tower Botanical Garden, the White Street Pier, and the Atlantic Ocean, offers a scenic backdrop for the event.

The Key West Artisan Market operates select Sundays during the season, designed by locals and for locals. Admission is free, with ample complimentary parking available. Guests are encouraged to bring reusable bags (BYOB) to support eco-friendly practices. This event is a unique opportunity to support local artisans, enjoy delicious food, and join the movement to Keep Key West Beautiful
