Key West Art & Historical Society Distinguished Speaker Series guest and Florida East Coast Company Historian Seth H. Bramson to share insights on the legendary railway

On Thursday, January 9, Key West Art & Historical Society invites the public to a presentation by Distinguished Speaker Series guest Seth H. Bramson at the Custom House Museum, 281 Front Street. His 6:00pm presentation, “The Florida East Coast Railway: For 125 Years America’s Speedway to Sunshine,” promises to be “the greatest railroad story ever told” as Bramson regales listeners with the railway’s history, the life of founder and builder Henry M. Flagler, and the story of the Key West Extension.

Bramson, who is the Florida East Coast Railway Company Historian, Barry University Adjunct Professor of History and Historian in Residence, and Nova Southeastern University Lifelong Learning Institute Adjunct Professor of History, is considered America’s foremost authority on the history of transportation to, from, and within Florida.  He has the largest collection of the Florida East Coast Railway and Florida transportation memorabilia in the world (larger than the state museum’s collection and the Flagler Museum’s collection), and maintains the railroad’s historic archive.

He is the author of more than three hundred articles, has appeared on A & E, Discovery Channel, Fox FX, The Collectibles Show, History Channel, Florida Public Broadcasting, the Learning Channel and Turner South Network, and  has written more books on, about, and dealing with the history of the Sunshine State than anyone else in history, with five of his thirty-five books dealing directly with the Florida East Coast Railway.  His book, “Speedway to Sunshine: The Story of The Florida East Coast Railway,” will be available for purchase and signing after the presentation.
