KEY WEST, Florida — Dessert lovers can savor the flavors and lore behind America’s most tropical treat during the Key Lime Festival’s popular Key Lime Pie Hop on Thursday, July 2.
Part tasting tour, part culinary adventure, the moveable feast guides participants through the streets where Key Lime Pie was born, with stops at some of Key West’s most beloved pie destinations. Along the way, slice-seekers will experience seven distinctive versions of the island’s signature dessert while discovering the colorful history, characters, and ingredients that helped create a true American culinary icon.
As part of the Festival’s 2026 celebration of America’s 250th birthday, this year’s Pie Hop explores why Key Lime Pie may be even more American than apple pie, tracing its roots through island ingenuity, maritime history, sweetened condensed milk, graham crackers, rum, and the Florida Keys’ famous Key limes.
Other Key Lime Festival events include a zest-filled kickoff party on Duval Street, the outrageous July 4 World Famous Key Lime Pie Eating Championship, a “Pirates of the Key Lime – Curse of the Tartiest Pie” party at Kava Key and much more.
Presented in part by the Monroe County Tourist Development Council and We’ve Got the Keys, for additional information and a complete festival schedule visit keylimefestival.com.
