KEY LARGO, FL — The Monroe County State Attorney’s Office announced today that Robert Joseph Perreault, of Key Largo, Florida, had his probation revoked and was sentenced by Circuit Judge James Morgan to 42 months in state prison.
Perreault was originally placed on probation following convictions for felony battery stemming from a violent domestic incident in October 2022. During that incident, the victim was repeatedly struck with fists, kicked, and struck with a dining room chair inside a Key Largo residence. Deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded and documented visible injuries consistent with the reported assault.
While on probation, Perreault violated multiple conditions, including committing a new felony battery offense on January 13, 2026, in Monroe County. In that case, the victim suffered significant injuries, including lacerations and severe facial trauma requiring emergency medical treatment.
In addition to the new law violation, Perreault failed to report to his probation officer as directed on multiple occasions and fell behind on required financial obligations, including supervision costs and court-ordered payments.
Court records further reflect a lengthy criminal history and repeated violations of supervision, including prior convictions for cocaine possession and arson, as well as multiple prior violations of probation, demonstrating a continued pattern of criminal conduct and noncompliance with court-ordered conditions.
A warrant for his arrest was issued, and he was subsequently taken into custody in Key Largo by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Assistant State Attorney Joseph Mansfield stated, “This defendant’s record shows a persistent pattern of violence and complete disregard for court-ordered supervision. He has been given multiple opportunities to change course and has instead continued to reoffend, including committing new acts of violence while on probation. At some point, enough is enough. This sentence reflects the reality that he is not amenable to supervision and that protecting this community must come first.”
The case was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Trey Evans.
