Joe Garcia and South Dade Leaders Make Final Early Vote Push During Souls to the Polls
Cutler Bay, FL— During the final day of early voting in Miami Dade County, former Democratic Congressman Joe Garcia toured South Dade churches and then headed to the South Dade Regional Library Souls to the Polls rally and urged members of the community to head to the polls and make their voices heard. The rally was organized by community members and a coalition of ministerial alliances from South Dade—and featured a live band and BBQ for participants.
“We are facing one of the most consequential elections in our country’s history and we can’t afford to have anyone stay on the sidelines,” said Joe Garcia, candidate for Florida’s 26th congressional district. “If we want to continue the work of President Obama, we have to vote against Republicans like Donald Trump and Carlos Curbelo, and support the progressive vision being presented by Hillary Clinton and Democrats across the board.”
“The decisions made by the people we elect are shaped by the people who elect them, so it’s important our community go out and vote,” said Pastor Joe Turner of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. “Electing progressive leaders who listen to the community and advocate for the issues that matter to our families is the best way to make sure our voice has an impact in Washington.”
Garcia has won over the support of key leaders in South Dade. He has been endorsed by Miami Dade County Commissioner Daniella Levine-Cava, State Senator Dwight Bullard, Florida City Mayor Otis Wallace, Florida City Vice-Mayor Sharon Butler, Florida City Commissioner Avis Brown, Florida City Commissioner Eugene Berry, Florida City Commissioner Roy Shiver, Florida State Rep. Kionne McGhee and RadioTV’s Dr. Flore Lindor-Latortue.
