Jennifer McComb Named CFFK’s New President and CEO; Dianna Sutton To Retire in November After 15 Years

The Board of Governors of the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys (CFFK) is pleased to announce that after a four-month national search Jennifer McComb has been hired as CFFK’s new President and CEO, effective October 1st. Jennifer is a resident of the Upper Keys and has extensive nonprofit management and fundraising experience. She will follow Dianna Sutton, who is retiring in November as CFFK’s President after nearly 15 years. Dianna will be working with Jennifer through the transition.

In making the announcement, Board Chair Ron Burd said, “We set our standards high in the search seeking someone with both community foundation experience and a knowledge and love of the Keys. We have both attributes in Jennifer, along with experience and tremendous passion. She will stand on the shoulders of the superb leadership of Dianna Sutton, who is retiring after 15 impactful years and paved the way for Jennifer through her tremendous efforts which have positively affected tens of thousands of residents throughout the Keys.”

Jennifer’s nonprofit background includes development, marketing and administrative experience. She has served as the Chief Development Officer with the Florida Keys Children’s Shelter since 2017, managing all fundraising efforts of the Keys-wide organization with a $2.5 million budget. Previously, she served as  Executive Director of the Ocean Reef Community Foundation, Executive Director of Good Health Clinic, and Director of Operations of United Way of the Florida Keys. She is the immediate past president of the Rotary Club of Key Largo, a mentor in the Take Stock in Children program, and board member of the Ocean Reef Chamber of Commerce and Upper Keys Humane Society, among others. Jennifer is a graduate of Cornell University and has a Master’s degree in Direct Marketing from Northwestern University.

As CFFK’s new President, Jennifer will lead the organization’s administrative, fundraising and community leadership and outreach efforts. She will spearhead CFFK’s continued development efforts in the Middle and Upper Keys, expanding outreach as part of CFFK’s strategic Vision 20/20 plan.

Says Jennifer McComb, “I love our unique island community, and am excited to take on the challenge of helping build philanthropy here to enhance the quality of life for our residents and visitors. I look forward to learning from Dianna, working hand-in-hand with the board, and empowering more locals to get involved to ensure a strong future for the Florida Keys.”

CFFK’s current President and CEO Dianna Sutton will retire in November. Under Dianna’s distinguished 15-year leadership, CFFK’s assets have substantially grown from $4 million to $20 million today, the awareness and effectiveness of the nonprofit sector in Monroe County has significantly increased, and CFFK has achieved national recognition as a top grant maker and received accreditation for U.S. community foundations. Dianna helped lead the Foundation’s management of $29 million in grants and program services, including more than $3 million in funds for vital disaster recovery aid through two major relief initiatives following Hurricane Wilma in 2005 and Hurricane Irma in 2017. With her guidance, CFFK created the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, a virtual hub of programs, services and resources for nonprofits. She co-created the Leadership Success Academy board training program, significantly grew the annual Unsung Heroes volunteer recognition event, and helped secure an estimated $60 million in future legacy gifts.

Says Dianna Sutton, “I’ve enjoyed working with the generous and caring people of our island community who exemplify the spirit of one human family. I will cherish those relationships as I pursue my next adventure.”

CFFK was founded in 1996 and Dianna was hired as its first full-time professional employee in April 2004. For 23 years, CFFK has been making the Florida Keys a better place to live now and in the future by encouraging philanthropy and matching these acts of caring to the community needs.  CFFK and its funding partners have granted more than $29 million to the community helping residents from Key West to Key Largo through grants to our local nonprofit partners, scholarships and program services. CFFK currently manages over 145 funds and endowments for individuals and other nonprofits and causes throughout the Florida Keys.
