Inmate dies at hospital

A 36-year-old Key West, Florida man who hanged himself in the Stock Island jail on March 14, 2024, died at Kendall Hospital in Miami at approximately 10:49 a.m. on March 21, 2024.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Corrections Deputies found and immediately rendered aid to Paul Rich Clift at approximately 5:30 p.m. on March 14, 2024.

Clift was taken to Lower Keys Medical Center on Stock Island and then airlifted via Trauma Star to Miami.
