Infinite Bottle Project Celebration
In honor of Earth Day, Hyatt Centric hosted a Sustainability Celebration to commemorate the collection of 1 ton of aluminum as part of the Infinite Bottle Project. With environmental stewardship at the forefront of Hyatt Centric’s on-property initiatives, guests and community members gathered on Earth Day to celebrate Hyatt Centric’s team on the hotel’s sustainability efforts in the Key West community. They are the first hotel to implement this sustainable model into their everyday operations.
The Infinite Bottle Project is a circular economy model where the profits go to benefitting Reef Relief. This is a partnership between Reef Relief, Proudsource, Replenysh, and the Hyatt Centric of Key West. Proudsource supplies bottles to the Hyatt Centric. The Hyatt Centric has an aluminum recycling drop off where bottles and other discarded aluminum are picked up and recycled by Replenysh to become new bottles. Reef Relief receives a portion of profits, which supports the Marine Science for All Initiative, a program that teaches participants about and inspires stewardship for our marine ecosystems. Reef Relief has reached over 14,500 students from 15 different countries and 44 states with this program since September of 2023, reaching a grand total of over 73,000 students since 2010.
At the celebratory event, speakers included Marcela Chamorro (Activation Specialist at Replenysh), Jessica Cain (General Manager at the Hyatt Centric Key West), Alicia Manfroy (Program Coordinator at Reef Relief), and Melody Tushel (Recycling and Outreach Coordinator at the City of Key West). Bites & beverages were curated by Four Flamingos.
Additionally, the resort has been implementing new environmentally friendly guest experiences from sourcing local through partnerships with small businesses, installing electric charging stations, eliminating the use of plastic straws, providing amenities in bulk, updating entry to be mobile only and offering bike rentals to offset CO2 emissions. These efforts were recently recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) while the Hyatt Centric completed its sustainability certification with Green Key Global. The certificate is the leading standard for excellence in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry.
