Idle Hand’s Summer Youth Employment Program students are making their mark

Sixteen-year-old Ashanti Lamartiniere, right, a participant in the 2022 A Positive Step of Monroe County “Idle Hands Summer Youth Employment Program,” works on organizing HARC applications with City of Key West Building Department administrator Martha Arencibia at City Hall last week. The sixteen-year-old intern will begin her Junior year at Key West High School this fall.

A Positive Step of Monroe County, founded by Billy Davis in 1999 to serve some of Monroe County’s highest risk kids and their families, partners with the City of Key West each year to provide stimulating summer employment for motivated Key West High School students. Those interested in supporting the program can visit www.apsmc.org/take-action.
