[Monroe County, Fla.] — The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County (DOH-Monroe) today reached the goal of 700 completed surveys for the Stock Island Community Health Assessment it has been conducting for residents and employees of that area since the beginning of the year.

The Stock Island Community Health Survey will officially close at 5:00 p.m. EST on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022. Anyone who lives or works on Stock Island who would still like to take the survey may do so until the deadline above at www.tinyurl.com/healthstockisland. The survey is available in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole.

The purpose for the survey is to help DOH-Monroe better understand the needs of the Stock Island community as it relates to healthy living and the local environment.

“The Stock Island Community Health Survey is an important project for us,” said Bob Eadie, Health Officer and Administrator, DOH-Monroe.  “Data from this survey will help DOH-Monroe set priorities and seek additional resources to help Stock Island.”

Results of the Stock Island Community Health Survey will be published later this year.  DOH-Monroe will also schedule a public meeting to discuss the survey results with government and business leaders, other Monroe County agencies and organizations, and any community activists who would like to participate.  The goal for this future meeting (date TBD) will be to identify resources and develop a strategic action plan to implement positive change for Stock Island. If you are interested in participating in the community meeting, please call (305) 434-5413 or email jennifer.lefelar@flhealth.gov.

“We are extremely grateful to all the community partners who provided support to help DOH-Monroe achieve its goal of 700 responses for the Stock Island Community Health Survey, “said Jennifer Lefelar, Community Health Planner, DOH-Monroe.  “We will officially recognize everyone who provided support to this cause in the final survey report. Thank you to everyone who helped us and thank you to everyone who took the survey!”
