HEALTH DEPARTMENT APPOINTS FRY AS NURSING DIRECTOR

(Monroe County, Fla.)—The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Carla Fry, PhD, MSN, as its new nursing director.

“We are so excited to welcome Dr. Fry into the fold as we continue our efforts in protecting the health of residents and visitors in the Florida Keys,” says Bob Eadie, Administrator and Health Officer for the department. “Dr. Fry was one of the lead coordinators in partnership with the department during the initial roll out of the COVID-19 vaccination events in Monroe County. The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County is confident that her strong regulatory oversight and her 30 years of nursing experience will be invaluable. Her vast experience leading initiatives in nursing practice will help build on the department’s past successes.”

Prior to her appointment, Dr. Fry was the Director of Nursing and Health Sciences at the College of the Florida Keys. She served as a director of nursing in academic settings for 10 years with 20 years of supervisory experience in her career. Dr. Fry is a veteran that served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant. She received her PhD in Nursing from the University of Florida in 2012 and her MSN in Nursing and Education in 2009 from Jacksonville University.
