Key West’s JAG Gallery announces an exhibition from two award winning artists opening Wednesday February 12th. GROWERS features Key West and gallery favorite Tort Mata returning with a stunning, and inviting new collection of landscapes in a warm and subtle palette inspired by the varied land and sky of some of her favorite places from New Mexico to Cape Cod in her home state of Massachusetts to her surroundings for over a decade here in Key West. Notably, this is a joyful and timely return for the artist to landscape painting, something Tory has admitted missing.
The exhibition also welcomes a new artist to the Key West Art Community, Natalie Bessell. A native of San Diego, Natalie has lived in Australia since 2021. A multimedia artist with a focus on painting, her recent work primarily involves oil and pastels on wood and painted glazed on ceramics, drawing inspiration from her life as a new mother and the surrounding elements of nature in the semi-rural beach town where she lives on the Mornington Peninsula along with “a general fascination with that which is ordinary and that which is magnificent.”
All are invited to a gallery reception on Wednesday February 12th from 5-7 GROWERS continues through March 2nd.
Considered a top destination featuring carefully curated exhibits of fine contemporary art showcasing work of prominent artists from Key West and beyond, Jag Gallery is located in Duval Square, 1075 Duval Street with ample free parking at the Simonton Street entrance to Duval Square.
