GOV. RON DESANTIS APPOINTS JIM SCHOLL TO THE MONROE COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

MONROE COUNTY, FL – Today, Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed James “Jim” Scholl to the vacant District 3 seat of the Monroe County Board of County Commissioners. The seat was vacated in December 2021 by Eddie Martinez. He will join Mayor David Rice, Mayor Pro Tem Craig Cates, Michelle Coldiron, and Holly Merrill Raschein on the commission.

“I am thankful for the Governor’s support and the support of those who recommended me for the position,” said Scholl. “I am looking forward to working with the other commissioners for the betterment of Monroe County.”

Scholl, of Key West, served as the City of Key West City Manager from 2007 to 2012 and 2014 to 2019. Scholl is a United States Navy Veteran who was the Commanding Officer of Naval Air Station Key West from 2003 to 2006. He is currently a member of the Sunrise Rotary Club of Key West, Key West Military Affairs Committee and serves as President of the Board of Directors for Sigsbee Charter School. He is a graduate of Leadership Monroe Class XV. Scholl has a bachelor’s degree in zoology from Miami University (Ohio) and a master’s degree in national security and strategic studies from the Navy War College.
