June 7 The Little Dog Laughed: (L to R) Erin McKenna, Matt Hulsey, Francessca Silva, Trey Forsythe, and John Reynolds

The first play is Cloudburst, written by Thom Fitzgerald. Dot and Stella redefine the ‘Thelma and Louise’ road trip when they breakout out of a nursing home with one goal in mind: cross the Canadian border and get married. They are pursued by the law and a non-consenting grandchild and assisted by an irresistible hitchhiker.  This hilarious and moving play is directed by Erin Stover Sickmen. It features Annie Miners, Carole MacCartee, Matt Hulsey, Susannah Wells, Tim Dahms, and Diane May. Cloudburst will be read on Wednesday, June 6, at 7pm in the BackRoom at Key West Theater.

The Little Dog Laughed, written by Douglas Carter Beane, will be presented the following evening. Mitchell is Hollywood’s next mega-star. He’s in the closet, and his agent would like to keep it that way. But love and lust are not so easily handled when a NYC hustler named Alex arrives on the scene. What’s an agent to do? This smart and biting comedy is directed by John Reynolds. It features Trey Forsyth, Erin McKenna, Matt Hulsey, and Francessca Silva. Little Dog Laughed will be read on Thursday, June 7, at 7pm in the BackRoom at Key West Theater.

These play readings are free events. Donations gladly accepted.  Doors open at 6:30. Show begins at 7pm. Seating is first come first seated. No ticket voucher is required since the plays have been moved from the small Back Room into the Main Stage of the Key West Theater.
