Fringe Theater Presents Hate Mail

Fringe Theater Key West announces the return of its summer sensation, the hilarious and offbeat ‘Hate Mail,’ written by Bill Corbett and Kira Obolensky. The show will run Feb 2-5, 7pm, at Little Room Jazz Club located at 821 Duval Street in Key West.

“We had such a great response to the show this summer, we decided to bring it back,” says Janet Bengel Fringe Board President. A love story (of sorts), ‘Hate Mail’ serves as a reminder that all’s fair in love, war, and letter writing.

The play features the very funny Pony Charvet and Susannah Wells as the love-torn duo whose fast-paced and sardonic story is at the heart (so to speak) of the show. Pianist Michael Robinson provides the musical backdrop for the show, a feature unique to this particular production.

“We wanted to continue Fringe Theater’s tradition of taking audiences to unexpected venues, so we chose Little Room Jazz Club, which is a great place for music,” explains Rebecca Tomlinson, the plays director and the new Artistic Managing Director of Fringe. “So adding music to the show seemed a logical extension of presenting the play in a jazz club.”

‘Hate Mail’ will begin at 7pm each night, so as not to interfere with the jazz club’s live music schedule. ‘Hate Mail’ runs for Feb 2-5. Tickets are $25 and are available at www.fringetheater.org or by calling 305-731-0581.
