Celebrate Conch Republic Independence with the hysterical, historical, and mostly true tale of the birth of the Conch Republic!  Don’t miss Fringe Theater’s concert version of Conch Republic the Musical! April 21 – 24 at Little Room Jazz Club, located at 821 Duval Street.

Don’t know the story of how the Conch Republic was born? Even more reason to see this fast-paced re-telling of how Key West was saved from the very real financial fall-out of the US government’s warrantless searches “at the top of the stretch” in the Spring of 1982.  Already seen the show? No worries! No two shows are ever alike, so you won’t want to miss this special anniversary edition celebrating 40 years of the Conch Republic, 200 years of Key West, and almost 10 years of Conch Republic the Musical!

Five amazing actors take-on the challenge of performing the 21 roles required to tell this larger-than-life story of Key West’s secession from the nation.  The cast includes Zach Franchini (last seen in Fringe’s DIVA), Ray West (last seen in Fringe’s LOOPED), Wilhelmina Lopez Martin (last seen in Fringe’s MA RAINEY), and Trey Forsyth (last seen in Fringe’s THE LITTLE DOG THAT LAUGHED). Joining the cast is Wayne LaRue Smith making his Fringe debut and returning to the theater stage after more than 40 years! Gayla Morgan, the show’s composer and lyricist, is lending her immense talent to the show as Musical Director and Pianist.

 “We are thrilled to be a part of the much-awaited reopening of the Little Room Jazz Club,” Rebecca Tomlinson, Fringe’s Managing Artistic Director, says. “And just as thrilled to have composer Gayla play the show, and playwright Monnie King in the house for the run. It really is a very special anniversary edition of the show!”
