Former fast food restaurant manager arrested for theft of $61K
The former manager of the Burger King on Stock Island was arrested Wednesday afternoon following an investigation into the theft of $61,500 from the business.
Patrick Lunique was charged with grand theft.
The investigation began in February 2020 when the owner of the business reported that approximately $60,000 in cash deposits had been stolen between October and December 2019. The owner stated he believed the store manager, Lunique, as the suspect as he had security footage of Unique manipulating the cash deposits. Detectives interviewed Lunique.
He admitted to stealing the money in order to pay for his rent, car payment, credit card bills and a new TV.
Lunique was subsequently fired. Warrants were issued for his arrest.
Lunique then went missing but was found at the parking lot at the Burger King on Wednesday returning some items from his previous employment.
Lunique was taken to jail.
