Former City Worker Arrested for Threats

The Criminal Investigations Division of the Key West Police Department arrested City of Key West employee Keyon Durell Armstead on Thursday for making threats to the New York Child Protective Services via telephone communication.

Armstead was audio recorded by Child Protective Services, where he made serious threats to kill staff by threatening to shoot them all. He continued to threaten them, saying that when he comes to New York, he would blow their heads off. Armstead was recorded to also have said that they were his enemy and that they messing with the wrong guy.

Detectives located Armstead and thoroughly interviewed him regarding the audio recordings and documents provided by Child Protective Services of New York. Armstead provided Detectives consent to search of his vehicle, which was his place of residence. Armstead was found to be in no possession of a firearm or any signs of ammunition on his person or vehicle. Armstead was arrested peacefully and transported to Monroe County Jail without incident.

Armstead was terminated from his position as a maintenance worker at the Truman Waterfront. He had worked for the City since November 2018
