Florida’s Callaway ‘highly questionable to doubtful’ to play

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida coach Jim McElwain says leading receiver Antonio Callaway is “highly questionable to doubtful” to play against North Texas.

Callaway injured a quadriceps in a 45-7 victory against Kentucky. Callaway leads the 23rd-ranked Florida (2-0) with 13 catches for 201 yards and two touchdowns, including a career-long 78-yarder against the Wildcats.

Florida also will be without guard Tyler Jordan, who will have eye surgery to repair damage stemming from a broken orbital bone. McElwain says Jordon will miss a couple of games, so he won’t play at No. 15 Tennessee next week. The sophomore had started Florida’s last five games at right guard. Freshman Richerd Desir-Jones will make his first career start against the Mean Green (1-1) on Saturday.

Freshman linebacker Jeremiah Moon (thumb) will be sidelined indefinitely. And receiver Dre Massey, who tore a knee ligament in the opener, had surgery Wednesday.
