First Key West Awesome Foundation Grant Awarded

Key West Poet Laureate Arlo Haskell, fifth from left, and author/entrepreneur David Sloan, sixth from left, receive $1000 cash on Friday as the first ever recipients of an Awesome Foundation Key West Chapter grant for their winning idea of a ‘Poet Tree’ where locals and visitors can share poetry. They are joined by Aviva Haskell, 4, foreground, Pixie the Dog, seated, Awesome Foundation trustees left to right, Bill Klipp, Todd Feit, David Johnson, Michael Shields, poet Nance Boylan, Awesome Foundation trustee Lynne Bentley-Kemp, and poet Captain Jack Hackett.

Each month 12 Key West Awesome Foundation “trustees” contribute to a fund and award $1000 to the most awesome project proposal to apply. Area residents with awesome ideas can submit a grant application at awesomefoundationkeywest.org. The award process occurs every month and idea-makers can apply at any time to be considered for the next Awesome Foundation Key West grant. There is no cost to apply and the $1000 grants are no-strings-attached. Questions: visit awesomefoundationkeywest.org  or contact Key West Chapter ‘Dean’ Michael Shields at 305-394-3804.
