Female remains found floating near mangroves off Stock Island

 

Kayakers from Fort Mill, South Carolina found the remains of an adult female reported missing Friday shortly after 12 p.m. Sunday in the waters off 12^th Avenue and 5^th Street.

 

The woman was identified as Alaniya Ylina Valido, 50, of 11^th Avenue on Stock Island.

 

No foul play is expected.

 

Valido was reported missing on Friday by family members concerned she intended to harm herself.

 

Valido was found about 30 feet from the shoreline against some mangroves behind the barricades near 12^th Avenue and 5^th Street.

 

Autopsy results are pending.
