FAVORite Creatures of the Florida Keys National Wildlife Refuges

This “smiling” Blue Parrotfish at Looe Key Reef might have got its start in the sea grasses and mangroves of National Key Deer Wildlife Refuge, an area surrounded by shallow waters that are home to hundreds of wildlife species. With this year’s Outdoor Festival just around the corner on Saturday, March 11th through Saturday, March 18th, the Florida Keys National Wildlife Refuges Complex and their Friend’s group FAVOR guarantee you’ll have something to smile about, too.  Designed to offer something for everyone, their family-friendly, mostly free expert-guided outdoor adventures, nature therapy, and engaging evening presentations will satisfy the interests of residents and visitors alike while also helping them recognize the refuges as safe havens for the creatures who live in them and wildlife-friendly ways they can enjoy them. Visit www.favorfloridakeys.org/outdoor-fest for more information and to register for these outdoor adventures and hands-on activities. Brought to you in part by the Monroe County Tourist Development Council.
