Equality Florida to host annual fund-raising gala April 4 at Truman Little White House

Key West’s annual Equality Florida celebration to raise funds to defend LGBTQ rights in Florida

KEY WEST – Equality Florida will hold its annual fund-raising gala 5:30-8 p.m., Saturday, April 4, at the Harry S Truman Little White House, 111 Front St. It is open to the public; there is no admission charge.

Equality Florida is the largest civil rights organization in the state dedicated to securing full equality for Florida’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community. Its lobbying efforts over two decades have ensured no anti-LGBTQ legislation has passed the Florida legislature, although several bills are pending in the 2020 session.

“The Equality Florida team, here in Key West and throughout the state, remains vigilant in protecting full equality for our LGBTQ community,” said Babs Wade, Key West donor relations and programs manager. “This informal, welcoming event is a perfect way to bring together like-minded people working towards equality and justice.”

Equality co-founders Nadine Smith and Stratton Pollitzer will update guests on the 2020 legislative session and the various programs supported by Equality Florida throughout the state. The celebration at the Truman Little White House features music by Broadway favorite Terri White, catered food and an open bar.

Sponsorships that support the work of Equality Florida start at $500. Details are available on the web at equalityflorida.org/keywestcelebration. Reservations for the event should be made by emailing Wade at [email protected].
