Eight Arrested on Drug Charges

On Friday, December 22, the Key West Police Department Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at 1506 United Street with the assistance of the Key West Police Special Response Team (SRT), Monroe County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and Special Operations Unit, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The search warrant was obtained after detectives initiated a narcotics investigation due to numerous complaints of around-the-clock drug activity.

Detectives and special agents searched the residence and found MDMA, amphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, and a multitude of drug paraphernalia.

In all, 8 occupants of the home were arrested.

Galen Neal Boswell, 38, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Clinton William Harris, 20, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

John Randall Battcher, 18, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Laura Lynn Deck, 39, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McKelly Joseph Cooper, 40, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Eva Maria Perez, 26, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Keon Torrell Ponton, 39, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Leran Simon Gvili, 26, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, false ID given to LEO, and resisting without violence.  Gvili was also arrested on outstanding warrants for fraudulent use of personal information and violation of probation.

All arrestees were transported to Monroe County Detention Center.
