Driving Change: Officer Alexandre Gaufillet Named Key West’s Officer of the Year 2023

The Key West Police Department is proud to announce the selection of Officer Alexandre Gaufillet for Officer of the Year, 2023. During an awards ceremony Thursday, Deputy Chief Randy Smith presented Officer Gaufillet with the honor, and Keys Federal Credit Union, sponsor of the award, presented him with a check for $500.

Officer Gaufillet is currently assigned as the Traffic Unit Coordinator.

“He is a conscientious, dedicated, and determined police officer who works very hard to make positive changes in his everyday duties,” said Deputy Chief Smith. “In addition to his normal traffic duties, Officer Gaufillet coordinates scheduling of police escorts, static displays, maintenance of Traffic Unit’s assets, the Law Enforcement Liaison Program, and police operational plans for traffic-related events.” Officer Gaufillet has spearheaded numerous traffic and bicycle safety campaigns to educate the citizens of Key West. In addition, he gives back to the community through his volunteer efforts with Pelicans and Police and the Special Olympics.

“He consistently displays great leadership skills as well as multifaceted, comprehensive knowledge that has proved invaluable and essential to this Department and the citizens of our community,” said Smith.

Officer Gaufillet was also named Officer of the Second Half for 2023.
