Driver fleeing in Ferrari arrested

A 29-year-old Miami man driving a 2016 Ferrari sports car was arrested early Sunday morning for fleeing from deputies while reaching speeds of 100 mph.

Gabriel Molina was charged with fleeing and eluding.

Upper Keys Sgt. Robert Dosh was at Mile Marker 87 at 2:13 a.m. when he was informed that a reckless Ferrari was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed down the center lane. The Ferrari passed Sgt. Dosh traveling approximately 75 mph. Sgt. Dosh activated his lights and siren. The Ferrari accelerated to 100 mph.

The driver of the Ferrari, later identified as Molina, turned off the driving lights. Sgt. Dosh radioed other deputies of the Ferrari’s location. Sgt. Dosh passed a gas station and saw Molina standing in front of the Ferrari. There was a female in the passenger seat. Molina was taken into custody without further incident.

Molina admitted to speeding, stating: “The car is a Ferrari and it goes fast.” Molina denied fleeing, but the female in the passenger seat stated that Molina did indeed see Sgt. Dosh’s lights and heard his siren. She also stated she told Molina to slow down.

Molina was taken to jail. The female was not charged.
