Dr. Susanne Woods To Lead CFFK’s Board Community Nonprofit Appoints New Officers

The Community Foundation of the Florida Keys (CFFK) is pleased to announce the election of civic leader Dr. Susanne Woods as Chair of its Board of Governors. Susanne has led an accomplished career in higher education at distinguished universities across the country in both faculty and top administrative positions. She has been a full-time resident of the Keys since 2005.

“I’m honored to serve as the Chair of the Community Foundation and help play a leadership role in its important work,” says Susanne. “I believe we are essential to the community now more than ever, working together with our donors and nonprofit partners to assist our residents in need during the pandemic and helping grow philanthropy in order to build an even better future for our wonderful Keys.”

In addition to Susanne, the Community Foundation’s newly elected Executive Committee is John DeWald (vice chair – investment), Will Langley (vice chair – development), Greg Oropeza (vice chair – grants), Ken Silverman (treasurer and vice chair – finance), Rosi Ware (vice chair – marketing), and Jodi Weinhofer (secretary). Retiring Chair Ron Burd, who served two terms leading CFFK’s board, is now serving as the vice chair in charge of governance.

New Chair Susanne Woods’ distinguished career includes serving as Provost and Professor of English at Wheaton College, MA; Visiting Professor of English at the University of Miami; Senior Advisor for the Council of Independent Colleges; Vice President of Academic Affairs at Franklin and Marshall College, PA; and Professor of English and Associate Dean of the faculty at Brown University, RI. Locally, she has served on the boards of the Florida Keys Council of the Arts and the Key West Literary Seminar and as Senior Warden (board chair) at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Susanne joined the CFFK board in 2012.
