Dolphin Research Center is offering free general admission for all Monroe County residents now through October 15th. All that’s required is proper photo i.d. that shows proof of residency. The nonprofit marine mammal research and education facility is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at mile marker 59, Bayside, on Grassy Key. With general admission, guests can spend a few hours or all day, seeing the family of dolphins and sea lions in action. Throughout the day, the center presents fun-filled, exciting narrated behavior sessions with the different groups of dolphins on a wide-range of topics from Dolphin Fun Facts, to actual research studies in progress, to playtime and many more. The center is currently home to 25 dolphins and four California sea lions, all living in natural, seawater habitats. Guests also have access to play and splash in the Sprayground, visit the tropical birds, or simply enjoy hanging out observing the different animals at their leisure.  For a more personal connection, DRC offers interactive programs including the Dolphin Encounter swim, Family Dolphin Splash, Meet the Dolphin and others that can be added for additional charges..

Founded in 1984, Dolphin Research Center has been a leader in providing outstanding care to marine mammals. In addition to being one of the most highly respected education and research facilities in the world, DRC is the Licensed Manatee Rescue Team for the Florida Keys and is an accredited member of the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums.
