Florida Keys SPCA is having their “Dog Daze of Summer Yappy Hour” event on Friday, August 26th, 2022 from 5-7pm at the Marker Resort, 200 William Street, for two hours of friendly fun and sipping for dogs and owners to enjoy! The event is sponsored by Papa Pilar’s Rum and the sponsor will bring drink samples for attendees. The money raised is for the betterment of animals in need, and the previous Yappy Hours have received positive feedback from the community.

The event will be a pool party with a DJ, drink specials and raffles, and the organization is providing doggy pools and cooling mats so no creature will feel left out! All dogs will be sure to have a good time, sniffing their butts off and splish-splashing away while their owners mingle and sip. The event is open to anybody, and more detailed information can be found on Facebook, at The Marker Key West Resort. Tiffany Dunsmore, the Development Director of Florida Keys SPCA, says, “We are excited about the upcoming event because the location is dog friendly, special, and encouraging of their socialization. We went with the Marker after they reached out to us about hosting the event because they are making a real effort to provide us with doggy pools, safe turf for paws, and shade for event-goers. We aren’t always lucky enough to find a venue that works in the summer-time, but we feel good about the Marker.” She also explains that the guests at the Markers get to enjoy Yappy Hours as well, so it really is a win-win-win for all involved!

The Florida Keys SPCA, as said on their website, fkspca.org,, “provides adoption services, essential animal care, as well as animal control & cruelty investigations under contract with Monroe County.” They have operated the Key West animal shelter on Stock Island since 1999, and in Marathon since 2015. They provide extensive services for the animals of Key West, and even during events such as Dog Daze of Summer Yappy Hour, they are still benefiting the community and the needs of animals! Oh, and did we mention the best part? August 26th is national dog day, so it’s even more reason to celebrate your dog! So, make sure to mark your calendars, because this is an event you do not want to miss.
