Detectives seek help in dog case

Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating the woman seen in this video and still picture for questioning in a possible dog theft.

The incident occurred on Jan. 28 at a house at 12th Avenue and Miriam Street on Stock Island. The woman can be seen entering the video in the top right frame and then again in the bottom left portion in the still frame.

The woman appears to remove the yellow lab from the property. The yellow lab appears to get away from the woman while she is attempting to close the gate. Det. Sgt. David Smith reports the other black labs apparently escaped and all the dogs, the yellow lab and the black labs, roamed free about the neighborhood together before the Florida Keys SPCA found them and contacted their owners. The dogs were not reportedly harmed and all were returned.

Sgt. Smith can be reached at 305-292-7060.
