Dates Set for Cemetery Stroll

Dates are now set for the ever-popular Cemetery Stroll in the new year. The strolls will take place on January 28, February 25, and March 25 from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Groups of visitors will be guided through the Historic Key West Cemetery, stopping at a number of notable gravesites. Volunteers will be telling the stories of the people buried at the sites. Groups will begin tours at 9:30, 9:50, and 10:00. The featured graves will be different on each tour and every year new graves and stories are added.

There is a suggested donation of $10 per person for each stroll which goes to the Historic Florida Keys Foundation. The foundation uses the funds for restoration and preservation in the cemetery. Some of the graves that have benefited from this project are the Navarro plot, the Hulbert and Mitchell mausoleums, and the graves of Ellen Welters Sanchez, Nelson English, and George Adderley. These are among the graves to be visited on the Cemetery Strolls.
