Adaptation Action Areas are a tool authorized by state law that allows local governments the option to develop maps and goals, objectives, and policies to target funding for adaptation projects and/or identify the need for more detailed adaptation planning to address sea-level rise or other storm-related flooding in the most vulnerable areas in the County. The example Adaptation Action Areas include designations for residential neighborhoods, infrastructure and assets, and natural resources. The County’s approach provides tools to better protect these areas from future flood risk through funding programs or more detailed planning. These example policies will be discussed further to determine whether the County will establish such areas and policies through amendments to the Comprehensive Plan.

The meetings will also include the opportunity for public comment.
