Community Foundation of the Florida Keys Meets Nation’s Highest Standards for Local Giving

Recognized in the top tier of community foundations nationwide, the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys (CFFK) has met the nation’s highest standards for local giving. This significant recognition comes from the National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations and demonstrates CFFK’s commitment to transparency, quality, integrity and accountability.
“The National Standards accreditation says our house is in order,” said Dianna Sutton, President and CEO of the Community Foundation. “When people make a charitable gift, bequest or establish a fund, they are putting their trust in us. They are counting on us to manage their investment wisely and honor their wishes. This recognition is a seal of approval.”
CFFK was first accredited in 2005. The National Standards organization establishes legal, ethical and effective practices for community foundations everywhere.
“Meeting the National Standards benchmarks is a rigorous, comprehensive process and accreditation is a significant accomplishment,” said Randy Royster, Chair of the Community Foundations National Standards Board.
The program requires CFFK to document its policies for donor services, investments, grant making and administration. With over 500 community foundations accredited nationwide, the program provides quality assurance to donors, as well as to legal and financial advisors.
Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, CFFK and its donors have granted more than $21 million to the community since 1996 to support the work of local nonprofit organizations in areas such as the arts, environment, education and healthcare. The Community Foundation currently manages over 140 funds and endowments for individuals and other nonprofit organizations and causes throughout the Florida Keys.
