Community Foundation Elects Officers; Ron Burd Appointed Chair

The Community Foundation of the Florida Keys (CFFK) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ron Burd as Chair of its Board of Governors. Ron is a retired executive vice president of Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals and his entire career was devoted to the leadership of nonprofit organizations.

“I’m honored to serve as Chair of the board and play a leadership role in the Community Foundation’s important efforts,” says Ron. “Working together with our generous donors and vital nonprofit partners, we’re creating a community-wide charitable network that is building a better future for our wonderful Keys.”

In addition to Ron, the Community Foundation’s newly elected Executive Committee is Will Langley (vice chair – development), Greg Oropeza (vice chair – grants), Ann Reynolds (vice chair – investment), Ken Silverman (treasurer and vice chair – finance), Rosi Ware (vice chair – marketing), and Doug Mayberry (secretary).

Chair Ron Burd’s distinguished career also included serving for 20 years as President and CEO of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, the country’s largest nonprofit provider of behavioral health services to children and adults. He is the founding Chair of the Child Mental Health Division of Child Welfare League of America. He currently serves on the Keys Advisory Board of Mote Marine Laboratory in Summerland Key. Ron is also a licensed Coast Guard Captain and avid swimming and sailing enthusiast. He joined the CFFK Board in 2015.
