Community Foundation Awards $60,000 for Health, Environment and Recreation Initiatives

Nine Florida Keys nonprofit organizations have been awarded a total of $60,000 in grants, ranging from $2,650 to $10,000 each, from the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys. The grants are part of the 2017 Grants Program funding initiatives in the areas of Health and Human Services, Environment and Recreation and will positively affect more than 5,000 residents from Key West to Key Largo.

Projects will promote youth fitness programs, provide nutritious meals, protect the coral reef ecosystem, offer primary care medical services and dental care for low-income students and families, support free civil legal services, provide recreational education including sailing for youth, among other activities.
The nine grant award recipients are Boys and Girls Clubs of the Keys Area, Florida Keys Area Health Education Center, Florida Keys Outreach Coalition, Key West Rotary Foundation, Legal Services of Greater Miami, Mark Sorenson Youth Sailing Program, Reef Relief, Star of the Sea Outreach Mission, and Wesley House Family Services.
This year, CFFK’s Grant Program is providing up to $120,000 total in two rounds to Monroe County 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofits. The second round, which has an application deadline of May 15th, will award grants for Arts and Culture projects.
