Lynsey Saunders

Superintendent Mark Porter is pleased to announce his recommendation for the new Communications & Community Relations Coordinator for the Monroe County School District – Ms. Lynsey Saunders.  Ms. Saunders was selected from an outstanding group of over 30 qualified applicants.  The selection process was led by Dr. Ramon Dawkins, Executive Director of Human Resources and included a writing requirement and two rounds of personal interviews with stakeholders and communication experts from the school district and community.

Lynsey Saunders is an award winning broadcast journalist and a published researcher. Ms. Saunders graduated from the University
of Florida with a Bachelor’s of Science in Telecommunication.  Subsequently she obtained an
M.A. in Arts and Culture Journalism from Columbia University, where she completed her thesis on the cultural transformation of Bahama Village, a historically black neighborhood in Key West, Florida. She has traveled to several countries including France and Brazil to document and report before returning to her alma mater, the University of Florida to work on her Ph.D. in Mass Communications, for which she is in the final stages of completion. She is now excited and honored to take on the position as Communications & Community Relations Coordinator for the Monroe County School District.

Superintendent  Porter  will  present  his  recommendation  to  the  School  Board  at  their  next regularly scheduled meeting on February 28th.
