Members of the Key West Business Guild joined the Mayor and City Commission in honoring Peter Arnow for his amazing contributions to the community.
Commission Honors Peter Arnow
Mayor Teri Johnston and the City Commission this week honored an amazing member of the community for his involvement and service over many years by proclaiming April 5th as Peter Arnow Day.
Arnow moved to Key West with his partner Bob Linder in 1992, drawn by the creative, nurturing gay community. After the death of his partner Peter became actively involved in the GLBT community as a leader, business promoter and entrepreneur associated with the WEOW Radio Station and DJ Rude Girl as well as Destination Magazine, and Cocograms Enterprises, and others, utilizing his creative photography acumen.
Arnow has been involved with the Key West Business Guild for many years. He has been active in numerous fundraisers and events. Arnow has supported the Key West Gay and Lesbian Community Center, Key West Business Guild June Pride events including PRIDE Follies, Sunday Tea Dance, and so much more.
He has supported AIDS Help — now AH of Monroe — as an AIDS Buddy and is involved with the Fantasy Fest King and Queen fundraising campaign. He has been involved with the AIDS Memorial on White Street Pier and serves on the Board of the Friends of the AIDS Memorial.
“We encourage all citizens to celebrate Peter Arnow,” reads the proclamation, “his life and commitment to GLBTQ activism with passion, dedication, good humor, smiles, friendships, and excellent photography that reflects our Key West paradise community as the treasure it is to all of us who love it here as One Human Family.”
