Commission Commends Coach Henriquez
Mayor Teri Johnston and the City Commission this month commended Coach Ralph Henriquez, noting that he “embodies the true spirit of being a Conch, with his lifetime dedication and devotion to Key West and Conch baseball.”
ln 1994, Henriquez was named the Conch’s head baseball coach, which began an era of unprecedented success at Key West High School. From 1994 to 1996 he led the Conchs to three straight Final Four appearances and won back-to-back State Championships in 1995 and 1996.
In 2005, he again led the Conchs to the Final Four, capturing Key West High School’s 11th State Championship in baseball.
In his 20-year career as head baseball coach of Key West High School, Ralph Henriquez is the winningest coach in school history. Amassing nearly 400 career victories, four Final Four appearances, three State Championships and working tirelessly to get hundreds of our young Conch baseball players to college or drafted into the Major Leagues.
Most recently Henriquez was inducted into the High School Baseball Networks inaugural Hall of Fame Class of 2023, recognizing him as one of the greatest High School Baseball coaches in the history of the State of Florida.
“There is no way to write the tremendous history of Conch baseball without the major impact of Ralph Henriquez,” reads the commendation.
