Collections, Key West Gallery

Ceramics and Glass @ Collections, Key West Gallery (on Stock Island). Our feature artist, Roddy Reed, 1946-2005, created fame for his light and lustery ‘pinch pots’ at shows throughout the southeast. Roddy came to Key West in 1986 to restore an old Conch House on New Street for the artist Roberta Marks. He set up a raku kiln in the backyard of the property and pinched his way to the permanent collections of the American Crafts Council, NY, museums in FL, AL, NC, LA & NJ, along with a multitude of corporate and private collections. His pinch pots took from 5-160 hours depending on the intricacy of the geometrical glazed patterns. One of his final accomplishments was the art of the ceremonial tea service, a true delight to behold. A full collection of his work can be seen at Collections Gallery, along with the work of the Mud Pi Japanese artists, Rhonda Bristol’s, Tribal Series, Will Fernandez’s raku entourage and the work of glass blower, Wes Hunting.
